Dear Tooth Fairy

Interpretation:

Tooth Fairy
I lost my tooth tonight.
I think I was eating a corn dog
and I think I kind
of swallowed it.

Turvy

This is my first attempt at the topsy turvy type cake. I have learned a few things that, if not obvious to you, I will not point out. Oh well, that's why you try, right?

Topsy

I have a birthday cake that I'm going to do next week and i was going to do a topsy turvy style, which I have never done. So tonight I experimented and did a topsy to see if I could pull it off.

The execution is a bit lumpy, but I think I got the idea right.

I probably could have brushed off the excess sugar for the picture too.

So next week we bump up the sophistication and add the turvy.

Blog Post

No that is not meant to be a generic title. This blog post is meant to highlight another blog post.

Today I am being featured on the Frugal Mommy of 2 Girls blog. The girl who does it does a great job of featuring products from Wilton to etsy stores. She has lots of followers and her whole thing is that she gives away one of every product featured and gets one for herself. Not a bad idea! It is a very interesting blog and I think you would find it interesting, if for no other reason than to check me out!!!

Wii

Stevie loves to play the wii and has spent many a cold winter day with the wii. Today, Emma decided to see what all the hubub was about and she LOVED it!!!

She really got into Mariocart.
Then she had to come over and show me how much she enjoyed it.

LIFTOFF!

I know I promised children in this post, but oh well.

This was my latest commission from a teacher at preschool and I thought it turned out cute.

Happy Valentine's Day

I decided to go a little rustic with a ganache glaze, but couldn't stay away from a touch of fondant.

I tried the glaze on the cupcakes too and I really like the look.

I promise my next post will have children in it!

Finally Famous

So yesterday I started to notice a lot of traffic at my esty store . I was getting hits like crazy, especially on my HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR banner.

Then I noticed a ton more people had marked me as a favorite seller. I just attributed it to the next day being Chinese New Year. But when I got 250 views in a matter of hours, I became suspicious.

As it turns out, I'm famous...sort of. My Chinese New Year banner got spotlighted by etsy on their blog. I'm very proud of this, becuase, if you know etsy at all, there are literally millions of products, and advertisement dosen't always come cheap or easy. So take a look!!!...if you want.

Employment is Ours

Steve is now employed! It was pretty funny actually how it all happened. He had had two companies that he was interviewing with and had a second interview with both of them. We were waiting to hear and were pretty confident that we would get at least one offer. While waiting, he got a call from a third company and after a ten minute interview, they offered him a job!

So now Steve is working for JM Waller based on the East coast. He is one of two JM Waller employees in the state. He is the new Area Facilities Manager for all of Fort Douglas by the U campus. It's quite a change from Layton Construction, but I think it will be nice. We get all major and minor holidays, except 24th of July, but he is free to trade his holidays around like vacation days. Also, he is allowed to set his own hours. So if we want 4 10's or whatever, as long as he gets his hours in. And we have insurance again. Except, it was kinda nice being on CHIP. They paid for EVERYTHING for Natalie!!!

Anyway, I wanted to thank everyone who has been praying and fasting with us for this. We have been really blessed the last four months. We have seen so much generosity from the community and have enjoyed the extra time as a family. Thank you!!!

Super Bowl XXXR

I have no idea what number super bowl this is, or if R means anything in Roman numerals (which is funny becuase I was a grader in Math history for a semester at BYU), but I really wanted to do a Super Bowl party this year. Don't get me wrong, I hate football. But I love funny commercials and junk food.

So I tried these footballs from Bakerella.com. Hers are much cuter, but I'm a beginner with candy. . .so there. These are very amatur and my piping got super lazy, but I still think they turned out cute, so I'm bragging.

Happy Super Bowl everybody!

Cowboys and Indians

This cake is for Brody, Steve's cousin's (Jessie's) baby boy. He is 1 tomorrow.

This tier is supposed to represent Indians. I tried to use Indian-ish colors and patterns. I wasn't sure how successful I was, hence the feathers.

This is obviously the cowboy layer. The rope was harder than I thought, but it turned out really cute. I do absolutely love the cow print.

It may not scream 1st birthday, but I think it turned out really fun and I really like the idea of it. Jessie is going to put 1 cowboy and 1 Indian cupcake on top.
